Tarmac, Gibraltar
To enter Gibraltar you show your passport at the border then proceed to cross the runway to get into the city. Yes, you literally walk across the tarmac. The runway runs perpendicular to the rock and is the first thing you encounter upon crossing the border. They are constructing a tunnel to someday allow people to walk under it.

Barbary Macaque, Gibraltar
The Barbary Macaque is the species of ape that lives on the rock of Gibraltar. Despite being known as an ape, it is actually a monkey. They are quite friendly and only approach humans that have food. If you walk out of a shop with food in your hand they will literally take it from you; probably before you realize it is gone (They love ice cream). Most of the upper part of the rock is a nature reserve where the monkeys live. There are about 230 of them. The legend says that when the monkeys leave so will the British. Hence, there is great care given to keeping the population alive and well.
There is an amazing amount of history on this little piece of land (less than 3 square miles). Go for a visit. It will be worth it. The views from the top of the rock are stunning. Seeing Africa, which is only about 8 miles away, is remarkable.
When done in Gibraltar, take the ferry to Morocco.

Inside the Kasbah: Tangier, Morocco
The Kasbah is built on the highest point of the city. It is walled and somewhat cut off from the rest of the city. The architecture inside the Kasbah is fascinating.

Plaza de Toros de Ronda, Spain
The Plaza de Toros de Ronda is one of the most famous bull rings in the world. It is the most prestigious and fighting here is a dream for many. It was also the first purpose-built bull ring in the world. Construction finished in 1785.The photo is of the inner part of the bull ring. The intricate pulley systems used to move the bulls by opening and closing doors remotely is amazing.

Paris and Pastries

I went to Angelina the morning I left Paris. The hot chocolate is wonderful. I also got the key-lime/strawberry goodness pictured above. I am planning a trip back to Paris just for the pastries.

Bianco Latte: Milan

Milan is an interesting city with plenty of shopping and very little food. We stumbled upon Bianco Latte on the way back to our hotel one night and then ate there every day after that. The atmosphere was wonderful. I felt like I was eating out of a kitchen from a Pottery Barn catalog. The service was great. The gelato is all home made and delectable as well. When in Milan, I suggest giving it a try.
